I read a lot about High-Resolution terrain, but I cannot find where or how to download this terrain information. Where can I find it in the app on Android?

As i am  not using SD on android, i can only tell you where i find this option on the iPad app. Go into the settings page (gearwheel icon) and here you should find an option named "download high-res terrain".
